It’s crazy how much the human race is afraid of the unknown. And when there is unknown, we want to know more about it. But it’s hard to know what’s true and what isn’t when looking at articles from 1,000 different websites that are anything but reliable. So, how about instead of focusing on the negatives and the unknown, focus on something you love. Something that makes you happy and lifts you up.
Pick up that pencil you’ve been putting aside and draw what’s on your mind. Pick up that guitar and pluck a melodic tune. Get out that puzzle you’ve been meaning to put together, grab a glass of wine, and fit the pieces together. Read that book your dad gave you that has been on your shelve waiting for you to pick up.
My point is, when you’re bored and antsy in times where you have to be stuck inside, instead of complaining and whining about not being able to party and go out with your friends or stressing about the news and negativity you see on social media and TV, do something constructive and something that fills you with joy.

Hobbies and being creative allow ones mind to be productive and take away your negative thoughts. You discover things you didn’t know about yourself. You lose track of time in the best way. Over the years, I’ve learned that it’s pointless to sit in your sorrows and fear. It’s a waist of time and energy. It isn’t what we were intended to do on this earth.
But I get it, I know it’s easy in times that seem to be filled with chaos to get into moods where you feel like you can’t do anything but stress over the inevitable. I’ve been there. I’ve had to pull myself out of those moments. And when I have, I practiced my art, I read my books that I’ve been meaning to read, I picked up my ukulele and played my favorite songs.
So what I’ve learning is that instead of focusing and waisting your energy on pointless chaos, turn off the TV, remove yourself from social media, and either refine your skills or learn some new ones. I believe that times like these challenge us to be better. They make us thankful for what we have and help us appreciate the little things.

In the last two days, I drew these three drawings. I have been meaning to draw and refine my skills even more, but I kept making excuses and putting it aside to either watch Netflix or go on my computer. But, since the coronavirus has been flooding the news, it made me a little stressed out only because of the chaos that people are bringing, not necessarily the virus itself.
To pull myself out of the stress and worry, I decided to do what I love. Draw. What I’ve been waiting and wanting to do for the past 5 months where it used to take me a good month or 2 to finish a drawing, took me 2 days to finish 3. Two days of doing something I’m passionate about. So, I challenge you to instead of consuming yourself in the COVID-19 media, you do something you’ve been putting off that you’ve been meaning and wanting to do.
